The 6th International Conference on Sustainable Water Environment

The International Conference on Sustainable Water Environment was organized to provide a forum for the exchange of information on topics related to water among academicians, engineers and public policy makers. Attendees include water experts with a broad range of backgrounds. The first and the second ICSWEs were held in Taipei, the third in Hokkaido, Japan, the fourth in Singapore, and the fifth in Seoul, Korea. This is the first time the Conference is to be held in North America.

Water is the most important natural resource! It is a necessary substance for the support of life, and there is no substitute for it. Several driving forces have impacted the water environment: climate change, aging water infrastructures, expanding industrial growth in the form of chemical production, and continued population growth that increases water demand. Over-exploitation of water resources and human-related stresses are causes for rapid deterioration of its quality and diminishing quantity. Responses to impacts of the above forces on the water environment are necessary to enhance the sustainability and security of water.

The 6th International Conference on Sustainable Water Environment will focus on strategy and technology needs for sustainable water in a time of climate change.

The conference will be aimed at the following three objectives:

  1. providing an open forum for the exchange of information on recent advances in sustainable water research and practices among countries at various stages of economic development
  2. enhancing public awareness on sustainable water environment
  3. forming an international alliance on sustainable water research
