Annual Meeting of the Western Governors' Association
This year's meeting will focus on developing regional and global strategies for addressing the intertwined issues of energy, climate change and water. Join us and officials from the Obama Administration, international dignitaries and a host of private and public-sector leaders from around the West.
Western states are already playing a critical role in transforming our country's energy infrastructure and economy as we shift to energy sources with low carbon emissions. In June, we will consider recommendations from our Western Renewable Energy Zones initiative, which is identifying areas with high quality, developable resources and the transmission that will be needed to bring them to market.
As we work to address climate change, it is imperative that we do it with a global perspective. My colleagues and I will discuss short- and long-term strategies for addressing this multipronged issue with a delegation of Chinese officials. Among the topics will be the management of water in an era of declining supplies across the world.
