CA Delays Cap and Trade
California’s carbon-trading program, set to launch in January 2012, will now be delayed until 2013, according to the LA Times. California Air Resources Board Chairwomen Mary Nichols states the need for the delay is due to “the need for all necessary elements to be in place and fully functional.” Despite the delay, over 600 industries across the state will still need to reduce their emissions under an emissions cap that will let the state reduce its overall emissions to 1990 levels by 2020.
