It Was a Warm September
According to the newest State of the Climate by NOAA, September was 1.5°F warmer than average across the U.S. Average precipitation, on the other hand, was near normal with most of the eastern half of the U.S. receiving above average rainfall mostly due to Tropical Storm Lee, while much of the western half exhibited dry conditions. Despite large regional variability, the July-September period ranked as the second warmest on record with below-normal precipitation.
