CA Sets Ambitious Clean Car Standards for 2025
One in seven new cars sold in California in 2025 must be zero-emission or plug-in hybrid, according to new regulations recently approved by the California Air Resources Board. The agency estimates that the regulations will create 21,000 jobs in California and, in 2025, will save the average driver $6,000 in fuel over the life of the car. The amount of greenhouse gas emissions that will be reduced once the target is met is equivalent to taking 10 million cars off the road for one year now, reported the agency, and the amount of smog-forming emissions from new vehicles under the new standard will be reduced 75% compared to 2014 levels.
