Drought conditions have intensified in Arizona and New Mexico in the last month, with precipitation less than 5 percent of average across most of both states, according to the June Climate Outlook from CLIMAS. What’s more, temperatures in eastern New Mexico were more than 3 degrees F warmer than average, and at least 1 degree F above average across most of Arizona. Forecasts through September call for warmer-than-average conditions and slightly increased chances for above-average precipitation associated with the monsoon.
