Climate Expert Schneider Mourned
Stephen Schneider, world-renowned Stanford University researcher of climate change, died suddenly on July 19. Schneider, a professor in the biology department, was not only an active researcher and promoter of the science of climate change, but also an outspoken participant in political and scientific debates over global warming, according to Stanford University News. He embraced the challenge of educating the public on climate-change issues. Schneider was a White House consultant for every president since Nixon, and shared the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize with fellow climate-change researchers and Al Gore.
