New Model Will Help Solve Earth’s Climate Mysteries
The National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) has just released their newest climate model, dubbed the Community Earth System Model (CESM). Scientists at NCAR have been developing and working with climate models for three decades. “Improved physics” and “expanded biogeochemistiry,” are some of the major advancements of the CESM compared to previous NCAR models, according to NCAR scientist James Hurrell. CESM will be part of the next IPCC assessment, and its new and improved capabilities will hopefully allow climate scientists to separate natural from human variability and better predict future climate.
