Estimating the Cost or Savings of Emission Reductions

Author Profile:

Often times, policies and literature discussing options for reducing greenhouse gases speak of net savings or costs associated with curbing the volume of emissions released into the atmosphere. But who will ultimately spend or save money as a result of these options?

State Climate Action Plan Energy Efficiency Emission Reduction Recommendations

Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado climate action plans included emission reduction estimates based on increasing energy efficiency using a variety of approaches. See individual state plans for complete lists and descriptions of all recommended options.

Forest Thinning

large amounts of forested areas in the Southwest are in need of thinning to reduce the risk of intense wildfires that destroy all trees, large and small. Southwestern state climate action plans recommended increasing the use of small trees and other woody biomass produced from forest thinning projects as a source of energy for home heating and biomass-to-energy facilities.
